The Salesforce Higher Ed Summit was appropriately held in the city and state known for being big and being bold, Austin, Texas. The Summit celebrated it’s 5th year with the title, “Innovating Together”. A first-ever pre-conference C-Level Innovator’s Day was held and attended by university CIO’s, CDO’s, analysts, and strategic customers. Don Tapscott, the renowned author and futurist, spoke about the impact of blockchain technology on business and education. Attendance was a whopping 1,529, with the vast majority of registrants being members of higher ed organizations.
A number of significant partners sponsored and spoke with excited ‘change-agents’ about implementing Salesforce friendly technologies to serve their students, faculty, staff and alumni in the 21st century. Three tremendous keynotes by Clayton Christenson, John Maeda, and Whitney Johnson, left the audience in a state of wonder, and clarity, about the state of disruption and innovation in education, in business, and self. Perhaps the most powerful part of attending Higher Ed Summit 2017 was the one to one conversations. I discovered new partners, new developments, and best of all, new friends.
