Location: Southeastern Asia, an archipelago of 7,100 islands situated in the Asia Pacific between the Philippine Sea and the South China Sea, east of Vietnam. It is bounded on the west and north by the South China Sea, on the south by the Celebes Sea and on the east by the Pacific Ocean. It includes mountain ranges, fertile coastal and central plains, rolling uplands and a coastline of 18,411 kilometers of which there are 60 natural harbors.
